Annie Duke of Team UB.com to Host Poker Tournament in Support of At-Risk Youth
Celebrity tournament at Commerce Casino in LA this Thursday to include celebrities and other members of Team UB
Miami, FL (PRWeb) May 19, 2010 – In her continuing quest to save the world with a deck of cards, Team UB pro Annie Duke will be hosting a celebrity poker tournament on Thursday night in support of After-School All-Stars, a charity committed to keeping at-risk youth off the streets, out of gangs, and away from drugs, alcohol and other temptations. The tournament gets underway at Commerce Casino in Los Angeles on Thursday, May 20th at 7:30pm.
Slated to play in the charity poker tournament are a number of Hollywood celebrities including Oscar-nominated actor Don Cheadle, funnyman Brad Garrett, and David Zayas of Showtime’s Dexter. Also confirmed to play in the event are a number of Team UB pros including Adam Levy, Dave “HollywoodDave” Stann and Tiffany Michelle.
Annie Duke is UB’s Cardroom Consultant and a member of Team UB. With a number of impressive titles under her belt, including the 2010 NBC National Heads-Up Championship, she is undoubtedly the world’s best female poker player.
Annie’s first WSOP bracelet win came in 2004 after she beat out 234 players in the $2,000 buy-in Omaha Hi/Lo Split event. That same year, Annie also took a seat in the invitation-only WSOP Tournament of Champions and knocked out eight of the world’s best poker legends to claim the top prize of $2 million. Duke has made 15 final tables at the WSOP alone and has cashed 37 times heading into 2010.
Annie is also revered for her humanitarian work. In addition to her unwavering support for a number of important charities, Annie is the co-founder of Ante Up For Africa, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising money for Africans in need.
