Just more than two weeks after opening, the Gun Lake Casino announced Saturday afternoon that a Kalamazoo woman had hit the new casino's first Jumbo Jackpot.
The casino said that Sylvia, whose last name was not provided, and 281 other guests, who won $25 in free slot play, all won for playing with their Passport card when the progressive jackpot hit.
Jumbo Jackpot is a casino-wide progressive game that starts at $20,000 and must hit by $50,000. The progressive had been climbing since the casino's Feb. 10 opening and at 2:45 a.m. Saturday the progressive hit.
Anyone playing with their Passport card is eligible to win the jackpot and everyone playing with their Passport card at the time it hits wins $25 in free slot play.
"We are thrilled to have so many winners since opening," said Carter Pavey, Gun Lake Casino's director of marketing. "We've paid out over 2 million dollars in jackpots alone since opening. Jumbo Jackpot is just another great way for our Guests to win."
To add to the winners, a Wyoming, Mich., resident also hit a jackpot for $75,000; a Plainwell resident took home $33,000; and a Grand Rapids man won $40,000 at the new casino.
