MASHANTUCKET, Conn. (AP) — Foxwoods Resort Casino is reporting that slot machine winnings increased 11.4 percent in December compared with the same month in 2010, ending a revenue decline in recent months.


The eastern Connecticut casino run by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation says slot machine winnings in December were $50.2 million, up from $45.1 million in December 2010. The casino sent $13.7 million of the winnings to the state, under its gambling compact.


Gamblers wagered $602 million on Foxwoods' slot machines last month, a 9 percent increase from the same month in 2010.


The nearby rival Mohegan Sun Casino announced last week that its slot revenue increased 6.7 percent over December 2010.
