Bellagio Hotel hits the jackpot in the Las Vegas

Bellagio hits the jackpot in the Las Vegas

‘BRIGHT light city gonna set my soul, gonna set my soul on fire’ – that was the view of the King of rock ‘n’ roll Elvis Presley about Las Vegas. And set your soul on fire it certainly does.

Las Vegas is a place where dreams really can come true. Let yourself go as you party through the night, gamble to your heart’s content and your wallet is empty, and eat at the hotel buffets until completely stuffed.

If you are visiting the city and planning to make the most of the 24-hour fun, then staying somewhere with style is a must.

When looking at the variety of hotels in the gambling capital of the world, it is hard to choose because there is so much on offer.

Do you want to surround yourself in Egypt’s ancient history at the pyramid-shaped Luxor or take a trip to France and stay in Paris, with its own replica Eiffel Tower, where you can take a lift to the top to view the world famous ‘strip’ in all its glory? Or is the Big Apple more up your street at New York, New York, which boasts its own rollercoaster that speeds across its frontage?

For true luxury, Bellagio is the hotel for you. Where else can you dine surrounded by priceless Picassos or watch water fountains dance across an eight-acre lake to well-known tunes?

Bellagio is in the middle of the strip and if you want luxury, then you will get it here.

Arriving at the AAA five diamond award-winning hotel we were immediately welcomed to all its splendour. The porter grabbed our bags as our car was valet parked and was really friendly, recommending all the best places to see during our stay.

Entering the hotel lobby, glass sculptor Dale Chihuly’s Fiori di Como chandelier adorns the ceiling. It is a bright rainbow of 2,000 hand-blown glass blossoms – a very impressive piece of art.

Opening the door to our resort deluxe king room with an indigo theme, the view was the first thing we noticed. Before us was a panoramic picture looking straight onto the strip, the dancing fountains and all the bright neon lights that the city is so famous for. Just perfect.

And a night at Bellagio makes sure your stay is a memorable one. From a 40-inch flat screen television to an iPod docking station, a mini-bar packed with drinks and sweet and savoury snacks, you have everything you need as you get ready for a night on the town.

And with LED lighting for greater energy efficiency, organic carpeting and furnishings made from eucalyptus, sustainability is also high on Bellagio’s list of environmental priorities – a plus for any visitor concerned about the world around us.

Make sure you treat yourself at one of Bellagio’s fine dining restaurants. For a chance to see works of art while savouring edible masterpieces created by chef Julian Serrano and his team, the Picasso restaurant is where we dined during our stay.

When you arrive at the hotel make sure one of the first things you do is make a reservation here. Set on the lakeside of the fountains, with outside seating available, it is a really beautiful setting.

Influenced by regional dishes from France and Spain, where Pablo Picasso resided during the majority of his life, diners have the chance to indulge in an exquisite array of dishes.

There is no denying you will still be thinking about the food long after your stay, so it is no surprise to hear Serrano has been awarded the AAA Five Diamond Award – the most coveted designation in hospitality in north America – a mighty 11 times.

And with a wine cellar stocked with more than 1,500 wines from a wealth of European vineyards, if you are stuck for choice then you can ask for the help of one of three master sommeliers.

We chose the menu degustation, starting with a Maine lobster salad accompanied by an apple Champagne vinaigrette, followed by pan seared scallops with a potato mousseline and jus de veau.

The next course was a sautéed steak of ‘a’ foie gras accompanied by a roasted peach-thyme pound cake, almonds and Riesling peach coulis. Roasted tournedo loin of Colorado lamb with pisto, mint aioli and tempura zucchini flower was next on the menu. Lamb is probably my favourite meat and this was just delectable.

And the desserts were like pieces of artwork themselves – a perfect end to a brilliant meal.

The staff were amazing and we could not have asked for better service. Master sommelier Robert Smith offered wine pairings with the dishes while captain Michael Sloan was very attentive.

Even though your stay in Vegas will be busy as you take in all the sights and sounds, make sure you grab some relaxing poolside time too. Surrounded by comfy loungers, Bellagio’s pools offer a chance to refresh yourself after a hot day’s shopping or some chill out time the morning after a big night in the casinos. Private cabanas are available along with poolside massages too.

And for art enthusiasts who fancy seeing even more masterpieces, the hotel even has its own Gallery of Fine Art.

So if Las Vegas is next on your travel list, make sure you book your room at Bellagio. You will be amazed at all it has to offer.

To enjoy Las Vegas you have to be ready for anything and keep on your toes. It is such a busy place and there is so much going on at every twist and turn, you don’t want to miss any of it.

So during your stay make sure you buy a Las Vegas Monorail pass. The seven-stop monorail system glides its passengers along a 3.9-mile route. Connecting its passengers to the hotels and casinos, restaurants and entertainment venues, it is the perfect choice for those who want to avoid the busy city streets.

In 15 minutes you can travel the length of the strip at speeds of up to 50mph, and do not worry about queues as trains arrive ever few minutes. With monorail stops inside a number of the big hotels it is easy to jump on and off as you please. And do not feel lazy, the monorail is a great way to see the strip from above and look down on the millions of tourists who pass along it every year.

The monorail is climate controlled, so if you are suffering from the high desert temper-atures outside it offers you a comfortable journey.

Open from 7am to 2am from Monday to Thursday and 7am to 3am Friday to Sunday, you are guaranteed a safe trip even in the early hours as you make your way back to your hotel room.

So place your bets on Vegas and prepare to have an exciting time as you embrace everything the city has to offer.
